We Are Making a Film About Mark Fisher
This is a meta-fictional / documentary film about the late, highly influential and generally brilliant philosopher, writer and cultural critic Mark Fisher. Made by Simon Poulter and Sophie Mellor of Close & Remote, with more than 70 additional artists, all made with zero budget.
I feature as the fictional ‘star’ of the film, a character based on M.R. James’s Professor Parkin from the story ‘O Whistle and I’ll Come To You, My Lad’, a major inspiration for Mark. My role is to lead the viewer through the film, while luminaries from philosophy and political theory discuss Fisher’s work and how it still impacts us today.
